Damaged by Cyclone Debbie in 2017, the project included the staged redevelopment of the sports park funded by local, state and federal government grants. Stage 1 included the reconfiguration of the sports fields and the installation of new base-hinged sports lighting, irrigation, sports fencing and carpark repairs. Stage 2 included new sports facilities with flexible changing spaces, first aid and Officials facilities.  Stage 3 included the new a Clubhouse with restaurant, commercial kitchen, gaming room and external terraces leading to the grandstands.
