Archerfield Wetlands District Park will officially be opened on Saturday, 28 September 2024. Colab are looking forward to attending the official opening by the Lord Mayor, Adrian Schrinner.
The Brisbane Sustainability Agency (BSA) has been rehabilitating a four-hectare site in Durack as part of the Oxley Creek Transformation (OCT) project. This project includes the conversion of a decommissioned water treatment plant to create a district park with connections to the wider bike trail through the wetlands. The site has a complex range of site constraints to consider in the design including bushfire, flooding, ecology, contamination, air quality, vegetation and rehabilitation. In collaboration with Urbis, we provided Project Management and Superintendent Services, to reuse and adapt the previous plant on the site to provide a unique parkland with a range of activities including:
- Large adventure play space with water play features
- Community event lawn
- Youth hub with basketball court
- Community Meeting and Event space with views over the wetlands
- Barbeque facilities and serene open spaces
- Nursery and office space for the Oxley Creek Catchment Association (OCCA)
The park, which provides a unique blend of natural beauty, recreation and sustainable design will be an asset to the community, to be enjoyed by many generations to come!
